LIFE is the EU’s funding programme dedicated to the environment and climate action.

Call overview

The LIFE Multi Annual Work Programme 2025-2027, includes the possibility to finance each year a limited number of projects designed to support specific needs for the development and implementation of Union environment policy and legislation.

Once a year, in consultation with Member States, the Commission makes an inventory of the specific needs regarding the development and implementation of Union environmental or climate policy and legislation that require to be addressed during the following years and identifies among them the ones that could be addressed by specific projects.

Objectives

The lists of specific objectives for this call are:

1. Strengthening foresters’ skills in biodiversity friendly forest management
2. Capacity building on results-based payment schemes for the restoration of biodiversity in agricultural landscapes and implementation of the Nature Restoration Regulation
3. Supporting local strategies for an efficient and balanced use of space towards sustainable, beautiful and inclusive neighbourhoods
4. Strengthening the fight against environmental crime in the EU and supporting the implementation of the new Environmental Crime Directive
5. Participation of consumer organisations and environmental NGOs in the implementation of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR)
6. Circular Business Model Mainstreaming - Boosting the single market for sustainable products and services.
7. Climate Proof Pollution Alert model : relevant for the Water Resilience Strategy and Zero Pollution geared to transboundary cooperation on water pollution incidents

Activities that can be funded

The topics under this call for proposals concern LIFE Other Action Grants (OAGs).

Other Actions may include:

- Coordination and Support Actions (CSA); Coordination and Support Actions (CSAs) are designed to support the implementation of specific EU policies in the different eligible countries and at EU level and are aimed at capacity building, dissemination of information and knowledge, and awareness raising to support the transition to renewable energy and increased energy efficiency.

- Other Projects, including Projects addressing ad hoc Legislative and Policy Priorities (PLP projects)

- Policy and Legislative Priority Projects addressing specific Union priorities (PLP projects).

Eligibility

In order to be eligible, the applicants (beneficiaries and affiliated entities) must:

+ be legal entities (public or private bodies)

+ be established in one of the eligible countries, i.e.:

• EU Member States (including overseas countries and territories (OCTs))

• non-EU countries: listed EEA countries and countries associated to the LIFE Programme (list of participating countries)

+ the coordinator must be established in an eligible country

Consortium composition

Proposals must be submitted by at least 3 applicants (beneficiaries; not affiliated entities) from 3 different eligible countries.

Duration

Between 24 - 36 months

‍

Budget

The estimated available call budget is EUR 11 800 000.

Maximum 90% funding rate.
