Interreg Europe is a funding programme that helps local and regional governments across Europe to improve public policies. Through cooperation and knowledge exchange, regions work together to find better solutions to common challenges.
Interreg Europe at a Glance

- The co-financing rate for Interreg projects is low and organisations typically need to cover 60% of the budget with match funding
Aims & Objectives
The programme aims to:
- improve how EU cohesion policy is implemented across regions
- encourage the exchange of experience, transfer of good practices, and joint initiatives
- help public authorities and stakeholders develop better strategies in areas like innovation, SME competitiveness, climate action, education, mobility, and more
The Interreg Europe program includes 36 participating countries: all 27 EU member states, plus Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, Switzerland, and Ukraine.

Who can apply?
- National, regional, and local public authorities
- Bodies responsible for developing and/ or implementing regional development policies
- Authorities responsible for developing and/ or implementing the Investment for jobs and growth programmes
- Business support organisations (development agencies, innovation agencies, chambers of commerce, clusters, etc.)
- Environmental organisations (environmental agencies, energy agencies, NGOs, etc.)
- Education and research institutions (universities, research centres, etc.)
Budget
The programme has a total budget of €10.1 billion over for 2021-2027.
