K-FEST

K-FEST is a multi-disciplinary arts festival that places emphasis on the development and exhibition of emerging artists, musicians, actors, dancers, poets, storytellers, transforming Killorglin’s vacant retail outlets, deserted buildings, and even domestic homes into curated bespoke pop-up galleries and venues. EU Funding Goals

In the first two years we would like to collaborate with a visual arts gallery or festival and also an arts college, with the purpose of exchanging emerging/early artists we select from our Irish arts colleges to be able to travel and display in another EU country to reach an audience and network with peers they would not usually have an opportunity to do. And of course, we will take college artists from the proposed EU partner to display at our festival. We feel exposing emerging artists to this level of international EU collaboration early in their careers will embolden them and enrich their creativity as well as encouraging them to look beyond borders in future work and endeavours.

Within 5 years we would like to expand this to projects that include emerging performing artists including music, drama and spoken word.

Within 10 years an expanded network of opportunities for selected emerging artists to annually spend an extended period of time touring various EU countries within this initiative. As Irish singer Christy Moore sang ‘We go there and they come here’.
