Cuan Beo. was established by local community members who have come together to campaign for and assist in the restoration of the natural habitat, species, environment and heritage of Galway Bay that is underpinning the economic and social fabric of the district, the recreational amenity it provides and the livelihoods of those who work and live within its catchment. Focused on water quality, our impact in rural development, marine education, blue health, economics and heritage is profound.

EU Project Experience

Some experience

Cuan Beo is currently participating in FORCOAST an H2020 funded (SPACE) project involving the application of Copernicus data for coastal water monitoring towards oyster reef regeneration.

EU Funding Goals

Cuan Beo would like to develop our skills in education, policy development and implementation and economic development for coastal rural communities

Strenghts

We have developed very successful outdoor education programmes for Primary and Secondary level students, engaging with and supporting local traditional fishing communities and others living on the coast.

We have significant expertise in oyster reef regeneration and restoration and lead the development of this form of coastal nature based solutions in Ireland.
