Its flagship programmes; ‘Farming for Nature’, ‘Heritage Keepers’ and ‘The Hare’s Corner’ initiated in the Burren, have now spread country-wide due to their proven efficacy and demand. EU Project Experience

Some experience

The Hare's Corner EIP: In August 2021, Burrenbeo Trust launched The Hare’s Corner - a project that offers landowners practical and hassle-free support in enhancing biodiversity on their land through creation of habitats such as ponds, native orchards, mini-woodlands and provision of Plans for Nature. This project, funded through The European Innovation Partnerships Initiative (EIP)/Locally led schemes, by the EU Recovery Instrument Funding under the Rural Development Programme 2014-2022 kickstarted an important biodiversity initiative that has grown in its scope year on year.

EU Funding Goals

We are interested in networking with, learning from and if appropriate, partnering with EU projects that focus on ground-up, stewardship initiatives and impact for conservation, climate action and heritage.

Also of interest to us are programmes that incorporate multiple aspects of a landscape in community engagement for conservation; e.g. its natural, built and cultural heritage.

Strengths

Burrenbeo Trust is an independent landscape charity dedicated to connecting all of us to our places & our role in caring for these places. Our vision is that of engaged communities actively involved in conservation of their place.

We have decades of experience working with farmers, community groups, schools and volunteers in the Burren -  a vibrant living landscape with outstanding natural, built and cultural heritage. Inspired by our learnings in the Burren, our flagship national programmes; Farming for Nature, Heritage Keepers and The Hare's Corner help people take positive, impactful actions for their local landscapes throughout the country.
