Funding programme

PEACEPLUS is a new funding programme designed to support peace and prosperity across Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland. PEACEPLUS is the successor programme to both PEACE IV and INTERREG VA.

Call overview

This call aims to promote positive relations characterised by respect, where cultural diversity is celebrated and people can live, learn and socialise together, free from prejudice, hate and intolerance.

Call detail

Building Positive Relations is a programme of support for projects which transcend local boundaries and have the potential to achieve significant peace and reconciliation across Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland. These projects should involve cross-border dimensions where possible and appropriate to the intervention.

The Programme will place particular emphasis on providing support to those most marginalised within our communities. These include (but this is not an exhaustive list): women; older people; minority and new communities, (including migrants and refugees); those living with disability; those with issues arising from the legacy of the conflict including ex-prisoners and security service personnel; members of the Traveller Community; and those from the LGBTQ+ community.

Objective

This objective will promote positive relations characterised by respect, where cultural diversity is celebrated and people can live, learn and socialise together, free from prejudice, hate and intolerance.

It will result in an increase in the percentage of the programme area population which has relationships with and as such a greater understanding of those from different cultural backgrounds; and feels part of a wider more diverse community.

Funded actions

It is anticipated that the Programme will fund the following types of actions:

  • Capacity building
  • Building positive relations
  • Increasing participation
  • Cultural expression

Read more details in the call document.

Eligibility

  • National, regional and local authorities;
  • Regional and local development agencies,
  • Universities, colleges, higher education, research institutions;
  • Non-governmental organisations (NGOs, including sports and cultural bodies);
  • Sectoral agencies and business support organisations;
  • Voluntary sector organisations;
  • Other relevant public-like organisations contributing to the development of the programme area;
  • Private sector – specifically micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and large companies.

The programme area for the PEACEPLUS Programme is:

  • Northern Ireland;
  • The border counties of Ireland (Counties Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Louth, Monaghan and Sligo).

This is the core programme area. The programme, however, has flexible geography beyond its administrative borders called a functional area. This allows for organisations and institutions not based in the core programme area to get involved in projects by linking with partners within the core area. The benefits of such collaborations must be significant for the core programme area.

Budget

A total value of €35,000,000 has been allocated to this call and projects are expected to be circa €1Million - €3 Million or have a commensurate output number to the value of the call.

Grants are available to cover 100% of the eligible costs of the project. Projects/Partners may wish to bring additional match funding into the project, applicants should seek further advice from SEUPB on this before the call closes.
