Welcome to the second episode of Access Europe’s #FundingFriday series!

Twice a month, we’ll be breaking down an EU funding programme, helping you to understand its objectives, who can apply, the application process, the National Contact Point and some examples of successful projects.

This week’s spotlight:  Horizon Europe, the EU’s key funding programme for research and innovation.

Objectives:

The programme facilitates collaboration and strengthens the impact of research and innovation in developing, supporting and implementing EU policies while tackling global challenges. It supports the creation and dissemination of excellent knowledge and technologies and is divided into “clusters” or themes including Health; Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society; and Climate, Energy and Mobility.

It's main objectives are:

- Strengthen the EU's scientific and technological bases and the European Research Area (ERA)

- Boost Europe's innovation capacity, competitiveness and jobs

- Deliver on citizens’ priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals

Who can apply?

- Non-governmental organisations and nonprofits who would like to promote and facilitate engaged and ethical research into issues impacting their beneficiaries

- Academia and higher education institutions

- Researchers and research centres

- Public bodies (local, regional, or national)

- Industry and private businesses

Application Process

1. Explore Access Europe’s EU Funding Guide and Open EU Funds

2. Develop your project idea — we recommend drafting a concept note to share with potential partners.

3. Contact us at Access Europe for guidance or support. We offer training and tailored resources to help you prepare.

4. Attend Horizon Europe Info Days or watch the recordings.

5. Get in touch with the National Contact Point for your stream of Horizon Europe funding here.

6. Submit your project proposal!
