🚨 Welcome to the fifth episode of Access Europe’s #FundingFriday series! 🚨

We’ll be breaking down EU funding programmes - helping you to understand its objectives, who can apply, the application process, and more!

This week’s spotlight: Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV): the EU's funding programme for citizens' engagement and the implementation of EU rights and values.  


Objectives:

This programme aims to protect and promote Union rights and values as enshrined in the EU Treaties and the Charter of Fundamental Rights.

The Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme’s aims are to: 

  1. Protect and promote Union rights and values
  1. Promote rights, non-discrimination, equality, including gender equality
  1. Support civil society organisations active at local, regional, national and transnational level.
  1. Promote citizens’ engagement, exchanges, and participation in the democratic life of the Union  

Who can apply?

  • Civil society organisations
  • Non-governmental organisations
  • Public authorities  
  • European-level networks
  • Think tanks  

Application Process


1. Explore Access Europe’s EU Funding Guide and Open EU Funds.
2. Develop your project idea — we recommend drafting a concept note to share with potential partners.
3. Watch our CERV training session - ‘Funding for Active Citizenship & Equality: Initiatives through the CERV Programme.’

4. Contact us at Access Europe for guidance or support. We offer training and tailored resources to help you prepare.  

5. Submit your project proposal!  

National Contact Point

There is no National Contact Point for CERV in Ireland. Please reach out to the Access Europe team in case you have any questions about the programme.


Successful Projects

Active citizen for people and planet (ActZen)  

Oxfam Ireland won 1st place in the #OurEUStory Awards 2024 for the participation in the project.

Active citizen for people and planet (ActZen) focused on raising awareness and engaging people on the issues of climate and the environment. It built awareness and civic debate ahead of the 2024 European Parliament elections, empowering people to make informed decisions. In the project, there was a focus on young people, climate and feminist activities.  

Current Opportunities

A number of exciting funding opportunities are now open under the CERV Programme.
Current open calls include funding for:

  • Combating discrimination against LGBTIQ people and advancing equality
  • Tackling anti-Muslim hatred
  • Fighting antisemitism
  • Promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace
